This privacy statement explains how we, as a firm of estate agents, process your data. 

The data we record

You are selling or letting your property
When you hire us as your estate agent to sell or let your property, Soeteman Makelaars Nijmegen will record the following data:

- your name, address, and contact details such as your telephone number and email address
- your reason for selling or letting, such as wanting a bigger home or changing jobs
- the date you first listed the property and how long it has been or was for sale or to let
- description and details of the property, such as asking price or rent, when it was built, surface area and layout, land registry details, and the value of the property under the Dutch Valuation of Immovable Property Act (WOZ)
- visual material, such as photos and videos of the property
- the reason behind cancellation of a contract under which we act as an intermediary
- if the property has been sold or let: the transaction details, such as the selling price or rent and the transaction date
- other information you submit to us  

You are looking for another property
When you hire us as your estate agent to buy or rent a property or go on a viewing at a property, our firm of estate agents may record the following data:

- your name, address, and contact details such as your telephone number and email address
- the search profile with your preferences
- details of your current property, such as the purchase price or rent, reason why you want to buy or rent a home, such as wanting a bigger home or changing jobs
- your age, income category, and family situation
- if you have bought or rented a property: the transaction details, such as the purchase price or rent and the transaction date
- other information you submit to us  

You are buying or renting a property from someone who uses our estate agency services.   
If you have bought or rented a property and we were the seller’s or landlord’s estate agent, our firm of estate agents may record the following data:

- your name, address, and contact details such as your telephone number and email address
- details of the property you bought or rented, such as the address, features of the property, the purchase price or rent, and the transaction date
- your reason for buying or renting the property
- your age, income category, and family situation
- details of your previous property, such as the purchase price or rent
- other information you submit to us   


What our firm of estate agents uses the data for

You are selling or letting your property or you are looking for another property
Our firm of estate agents uses your data to perform the contract for intermediary services you have entered into with us. Your data may also be used to:

- advertise your property to the public on our firm’s own website, on websites such as Funda, and in sales brochures
- perform property valuations and other value assessments (your property is used only as a reference property) 
- produce analyses and reports that allow our firm to improve its services
- send you information about our firm’s products and services; if you want to unsubscribe, please contact us.  

You are looking for another property
If you hire Soeteman Makelaars to buy or rent a property or go on a viewing of a property, your data may also be used to:

- send you information about other properties
- produce analyses and reports that allow us to improve our services
- draw up formal documents: purchase deed, purchase agreement, contract for services, or valuation report  

You are buying or renting a property from someone who uses our estate agency services. 
Soeteman Makelaars processes your data to maintain contact with you, such as to send you the purchase agreement. Your data may also be used:

- for advisory purposes, provided that you asked for advice
- to produce analyses and reports that allow us to improve our services
- to draw up formal documents: purchase deed, purchase agreement, contract for services, or valuation report  


Social media
If you use social media such as Facebook, you can use the ‘like’ and ‘share’ buttons on our website to share houses or information that you like or that you consider useful with your friends on your social media account. Soeteman Makelaars does not gain access to your social media account. We advise you to carefully read the privacy policy of the social media where you have an account to find out how they process your data and how to change the settings.

Security and retention period
Soeteman Makelaars will ensure that your data is secured adequately so that your data will be protected against unauthorised use, unauthorised access, unauthorised changes, and unlawful erasure. Your data will be kept for as long as necessary for the above purposes or to the degree necessary for compliance with legal obligations and to solve any disputes.
Soeteman Makelaars will not retain your personal data for longer than strictly necessary to realise the goals for which your data is collected.
We use the following retention periods for the following (categories of) personal data:  

  • Email address: unlimited, as long as you subscribe to our newsletter 
    (without your email address, we cannot email you the newsletter)
  • Data concerning your activities on our website: 26 months, for statistical purposes 
    (through Google Analytics)
  • Internet browser and type of device: 26 months, for statistical purposes 
    (through Google Analytics)

Access, rectification, and erasure
Send any requests for access, rectification, or erasure of data to our firm of estate agents stating your name and address. Soeteman Makelaars will, in principle, respond to a request for access or rectification within four weeks. In case of a request for erasure, our firm of estate agents will delete the personal data in question as soon as possible, unless we are required by law to keep the personal data in question or there are (other) compelling reasons standing in the way of erasure of the data. 

Visitor behaviour
Soeteman Makelaars’ website tracks general visitor data such as which pages are visited the most. The reason behind this is to optimise the website layout. This data may also be used to put more targeted information on the website. This enables Soeteman Makelaars Nijmegen to further optimise its services to you.

Cookies 
Soeteman Makelaars uses cookies to increase the online convenience and to tailor the content of your advertisements to your personal preferences. We have captured this in a cookie statement.

We use cookies for the primary purpose that the website needs to function normally. This website also uses cookies to optimise your user experience, to store profiles, and/or for re-targeting. A cookie operated by the American technology company Google is also placed on your computer when you visit our website. We use this Google service to track and compile reports of how visitors use our website. Google may share the data collected by this cookie with third parties if required by law, or to the extent that third parties also process data on behalf of Google. We do not have any control over this. The information that Google collects is anonymised as much as possible.
